Sleeping

A lot of the pictures I take are of my girls sleeping. I'm not sure if it's because some of their cutest moments are when they are sleeping or because they are finally holding still . . . or maybe because I'm better able to remember how much I love them when they are peacefully sleeping. Probably a combination.

How can you resist those blue eyes? As I was putting Clara down for a nap today she looked up at me with those big blue eyes, watery with tears, and it was all I could do to not pick her back up. Only a few seconds passed before I surrendered, cuddled her back into my arms and bounced her until she was sound asleep.

Luci's all-time favorite shirt is the her navy blue Nittany Lion shirt Grandpa Seegrist gave her. She even prefers it over her pink Nittany Lion shirt her Dad gave her, much to Kirk's dismay. To put into perspective how much she likes it, five out of the seven days last week she was wearing it. There have been many times when I've wanted to hide it so she will give her other clothes a chance, but I've never followed through with it. Last week we started breaking out Clara's three to six month clothes (I can't believe she's already old enough for them) and Luci discovered that she has a Nittany Lion shirt too. She was so excited! So of course we had to get a picture.

This is where we spent Memorial Day. We had a BBQ with some friends in our ward then spent some time lying on the beach and playing in the water. It was a lot of fun! I decided that I want to come here more often. It's free, Luci loved it, and it's only twenty minutes away from our house!

Here's Clara lounging in the shade of her car seat. Next time I go I want to buy a beach umbrella so she can lounge in style!

The yummiest place on Earth

Last Friday we made a trip to out to Chocolate World! My friend from high school was out there on vacation and since we've been wanting to go anyway we decided it was a great time.
I started the day bright and early by waking up at 4:00am to nurse Clara and then not being able to fall back asleep because I thought I had lice (that's another story . . . but, no, I don't). By 8:00 am we were out the door and headed to Hershey. It took us about two hours to get there and another hour to nurse Clara, change her diaper, smother the girls with sunblock, and walk across the giant parking lot.

Here are a few highlights from our trip:

We got to meet Hershey!

Most of the kid rides wouldn't let adults on them. I thought that Luci would be scared to go without us, but she was perfectly fine. It was cute to see her riding by herself, but a little sad too. She's so grown up!

Chocolate world is separate from Hershey park and is free. During our lunch break we stopped in and took the tour/ride. It reminds me a lot of the rides at Disney Land because you ride in a boat, stuffed cows sing to you, and at the end they take your picture and want you to pay a million bucks for it :). A bonus: the whole building smells like chocolate and you get a free mini hershey's!
On our way out Luci skinned her knee and didn't want to smile for the picture.

For lunch we found a tiny chunk of lawn outside of the park and had a picnic.

Kirk took the girls for a few hours and let me hang out with my friend. It was a lot of fun to go on some "big kid" rides and catch up with her.

When I came back I found Kirk and the girls sleeping on a bench. What a great husband and Daddy he is! I love him so much!

We had a lot of fun and didn't make it back home until 11:00pm. It was a great trip, but I was very glad to be back home in my bed.

Bathroom Floor

This is where we found Luci the other night when we went to check on her. She started out in her bed, but decided that wasn't smelly enough I guess. A week before that I went in to check on her and she was no where to be found. That time I found her under her bed. It sure gave me a good scare.

Pillow Cases and Smiles

My sister and Mom sent us these cute dresses that they made out of pillow cases! Luci was so excited to have a matching outfit with her sister. She is always trying to get Kirk and I to wear clothes that look like hers. It can be fun sometimes, but often results in tears when Kirk won't wear a pink shirt or I won't wear a dress (way too hard to nurse in). So thanks Mom and Nicole for the dresses, we love them!

When my girls smile it makes all of the sleepless nights, peed on carpets, spit-up on shirts, whining car rides, tantrums at the store, and piles of laundry all worth it. Thank goodness for smiles!
