New Do

So I really want to do something new with my hair. Mainly because the haircut I just got is yucky. It has a lot of choppy layers on one side and none on the other, and something needs to be done with it. I have also been growing out my natural color and want to cut off as much of the died ends as possible. I found this picture and thought it was cute, but I'm not sure if it will look good on me. What do you think? Please be honest, I won't be offended.

Quick Update

Our camera battery is bad and I haven't been able to take pictures for a while. Luckily, we found a good deal on-line and have one coming in the mail. As of now, I have no pictures to post, but here is what's been going on in our lives:

Kirk is super busy with school again. He is also participating in a competition with a few other students where they are designing a city scape for an area in San Diego and competing against other students across the country. There is money involved in winning, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Luci is going through the "Why" stage hard core. It's tolerable the first half of the day, but by the end of the day I am going crazy. She has also been very artistic lately. For family night we each drew pictures of the commandments we talked about. Kirk drew a picture of our family in stick figures. The next day when Luci was eating breakfast she asked me to grab her a black marker. When I asked her why, she informed me that Daddy had forgotten to draw legs on me and her (he just drew the triangle skirt). So I got her the black marker and she drew legs and feet on us.

And as for me, I am getting large with child (34 weeks). The baby is measuring small so I have had a couple of extra ultrasounds over the past month to make sure she is growing. So far things look good! I can't wait to meet this little girl. I feel like I have so much to do before she comes, but also feel like it couldn't come soon enough. My due date is the Friday before Kirk's spring break, so I am really hoping that I can have her that night.

Well that's about all I can think of for now. Hopefully our battery will come in the mail soon so I can post a picture next time.

Accidental Hangover

So, I didn't really have a hangover, but I did accidentally sample the forbidden. On Sunday, Kirk's teacher hosted a dinner at her house for the graduate students. Of course they had plenty of wine and beer which I easily avoided. What I didn't know was that I should be avoiding the chocolates too. They had these chocolate balls that seemed as if they were filled with peanut butter. They were really delicious, so I kept eating them. A little while later I over heard some people talking about the bourbon balls they brought. I thought, 'bourbon, that sounds like it could be an alcoholic drink.' Meanwhile Luci kept running back to the table to grab more, and Kirk not realizing what they were allowed her to.
When we left I asked Kirk if bourbon was something alcoholic, and sure enough it is. I was so paranoid that my daughter and I were drunk. I started looking it up on-line to see how much damage we had done, and the only thing I really found were warnings on giving these to children and driving after eating too many. Then the thought hit me that my baby is going to have fetal alcohol syndrome. Yes, I am a paranoid person.
Anyways, a few days later I realize that it is kind of funny and I'm not as worried about fetal alcohol syndrome. This was just a wake-up call to my naiveté. Next party I will be more wary about what we eat.

Our Christmas Holiday was spent in Utah with our families. We had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed being able to talk to our families in person rather then on skype.

When it came time to leaving I had a harder time than I thought I would. The whole time we were there I kept dreaming of how nice it would be to get back to my own bed and get a good nights sleep. I thought the only feelings I would feel when leaving were relief. Yet, as we were waiting to board our airplane back home the reality of leaving our families sank in. I miss then so much already! In the ideal future, I hope to live close enough to visit and still be able to return to our own home at night.

I am so grateful for family. We have been very blessed to have so many people to love and that love us too.

Here are a few highlights from our trip:

Playing with the Puppies
.
When we first arrived, my parents had a house full of puppies. Luci loved playing with the puppies. They were a lot of fun, until they peed or pooped on the carpet :)!

Homemade doll and matching dress from Grandma
Leave it to my Mom to whip together homemade gifts for everyone. She also crocheted us matching slipper socks. She's very talented.

Luci with her Great Grandpa Webster

Santa Clause came to town

Playing Fancy Nancy
A tradition at Grandma Dana's house.

Bowling
We had a lot of fun bowling with my family. I even beat Kirk! (My victories over Kirk at any game are few and must be celebrated)

Dry Skin
One of the first things we noticed upon arriving in Utah was our dry skin. Luci must have been extremely bothered by it because after a short disappearance into the other room she came back out covered in lotion. She didn't start crying until she realized what she had done was drawing a lot of attention.

What we miss the most about Utah
Two of the things we miss the most about our home state are the blue skies and big mountains. It was nice to see them again.

Stuck in the Snow
Luci had a lot of fun playing in the snow and sledding with her cousins and Aunts and Uncles.
